The Jigawa State Police Command has launched a two-week intensive training program for all Divisional Crime Officers (DCOs) across the state, aimed at enhancing investigative capacity and strengthening crime-fighting skills.
The program, which commenced on Monday, February 17, 2025, features practical sessions and lectures delivered by top experts within the force.
The initiative is designed to equip officers, from the rank of Superintendents of Police (SPs) to Police Constables (PCs), with advanced knowledge in modern policing methods and intelligence-driven operations.
On the first day, two impactful sessions set the tone for the training:
CSP Aliyu Umar, the Officer in Charge of General Investigation, delivered a comprehensive lecture on intelligence gathering.
His session focused on the intelligence cycle, the challenges of intelligence operations, and how to effectively collect actionable information.
CSP Hamdullahi Shehu, the Divisional Police Officer for Dutse, led a session on general tracking techniques. Participants learned about generating accurate coordinates, using Google pins, and identifying phone numbers linked to the National Identification Number (NIN) for criminal investigations.
The hands-on exercises were a major highlight, as officers applied real-time tracking methods to achieve impressive results. Participants expressed excitement over the practical skills gained, which are expected to significantly boost their efficiency in combating crime.
Commending the initiative, the Commissioner of Police lauded the Department of Operations in Dutse for organizing the program. He emphasized the Command’s commitment to continuous training, innovation, and intelligence-driven policing to ensure the safety and security of Jigawa State.
The training is set to continue for two weeks, with more advanced sessions planned to further refine the investigative expertise of officers.
