Members of the Lagos State House of Assembly held their plenary session on Monday under heavy presence of the operatives of the Department of State Service (DSS).
Officers from the Police force and DSS surrounded the premises of the House, sealing up the office of the Speaker, Mojisola Meranda and the chamber.
The lawmakers after a 2-hour meeting held outside the chambers, proceeded to hold plenary.
But Mojisola Meranda who in the heat of the situation broke down in tears.
She stared at the crowd having members and management of the house of assembly who had come out to support the leadership of the house.
The crowd went on chanting solidarity songs, encouraging her to go ahead and commence plenary.
Shortly after, the doors of the chamber was thrown opened and the mace brought in, afterwhich plenary session kicked off.
Meanwhile, the lawmakers have condemned the actions of the Department of State Service, saying an attack on the legislature is an attack on democracy.
They also insist on the removal of former speaker, Mudashiru Obasa, stating that their decision was constitutional and final.
