A final year student of the Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin, Yetunde Lawal, has been reportedly killed by her boyfriend that she met on social media.
It was gathered that the suspect dismembered her body for alleged ritual purposes.
The state Police command, which confirmed the incident, said that the suspect has been arrested.
It was gathered that Yetunde Lawal went missing last Monday.
On Tuesday, her parents reported the case to the Oja Oba Police Station in Ilorin.
Police authorities traced her last call to a man living in the Offa Garage area of Ilorin.
The culprit was captured, but he originally denied knowing the lady’s whereabouts.
When the authorities examined his residence, he admitted that the lady was in his neighborhood and died of an asthma attack after he invited her over.
The police later found the lady’s dismembered body hidden in a bowl.
The suspect is now at the police headquarters in Ilorin.
Meanwhile, the Kwara state police command, through the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, has confirmed that it is aware of the gruesome killing of the deceased.
“The Kwara state Police command is aware of the gruesome killing of one Miss Yetunde H. Lawal. On 11/O2/2025 at about 1800hours, a case of missing person was reported at C Division Oja-Oba by her father, Mr. Ibrahim A Lawal.
“Immediately, the police detectives swung into action, tracked her number and arrested a suspect, and exhibits recovered. The case was transferred yesterday to the SCID for discreet investigations.
“Further updates will be communicated as investigations progress”.
