Governor Darius Ishaku has commended the president’s efforts at restoring peace to southern Taraba.
This follows a flag off of Operation Ayem Akpatuma II by the military in the Takum local government area of the state.
Southern Taraba has been a hotbed of violent communal clashes, banditry and kidnapping.
Farmers contemplated abandoning their farmlands at some point for fear of attacks.
Endless clashes between the Tiv and the Jukun have claimed scores of lives and destroyed property worth millions.
The need for additional security in the state has now brought about a relaunch of the military’s Ayem Akpatuma exercise, aimed at combating internal security threats in Northern Nigeria.
The Taraba government is happy with this renewed military presence in the state.
The governor, represented by his deputy wants the security operatives to brace up for the challenge and work according to rules of engagement.
He also called on the people of the area to assist the military with useful information.
The army explained that the exercise is expected to build capacity of its men as well.
The military also demonstrates its concern for human health with a medical outreach inthe Kufai Amadu community.
Expectations are quite high amongst locals, who now hope to begin sleeping with two eyes closed following the second coming of operation Ayem Akpatuma to their homeland.
