President Muhammadu Buhari has made a strong demand for exemplary conduct of non-partisanship from election and law enforcement officials in Bayelsa and Kogi states.
In a statement signed by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu the president charged all officials to carry out their functions with fairness and transparency without fear or favour.
President Buhari called on voters to exercise their franchise in a peaceful and orderly manner and in line with the law in all situations.
He also lamented the incidence of violence recorded and indiscriminate use of language since the ban on campaigns was lifted a few weeks ago.
The statement also noted Law enforcement officials must ensure that citizens are allowed to vote without harassment and intimidation, and any attempt to steal or hijack ballots must be stopped using all legal means.
He also urged all candidates to be ready to accept the outcomes and follow due process of the law if dissatisfied.
