Kaduna state governor, Nasir El-Rufai has approved the one hundred million Naira for upgrade of facilities to serve as correctional centres in the state.
This is coming in response to calls by parents who had their children at supposed rehabilitation centres in the state, which have now been shut down by the government.
Thirteen inmates from the closed centres are undergoing medical examination at the Neuro-Psychiatric hospital in the state capital.
Correspondent, Tesem Akende reports that the centres have been shut down, and the inmates reunited with their families. But some parents have been questioning government on what to do with their children who they said are recalcitrant. The children are quick to counter the belief that any good could be achieved from the centres.
Commissioner for Human Services and Social Development in the state, Hafsat Baba, noted that efforts are underway to address their demand for a correctional facility.
Owners of the closed centres have been charged to court, but they insist there is no case, against them since they obtained all necessary documentation.
