The Nigerian Air force will begin talks with a textile company in Zaria, next week, on the manufacture of bullet proof vests, tents, vehicle truck covers and other kits.
This is coming after a facility visit by Chief of the Air Staff and other senior officers of the force to the ancient northern Nigerian city.
Chief of Air staff, Air Marshal Saddique Abubakar and other senior personnel of the force arrived the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology
in Zaria and proceeded to meet management of the textile company in the ancient city.
The visit was to see things first hand and assess opportunities to be explored. The industry is acclaimed to be the first and only cotton canvas tarpaulin
manufacturer in the West African sub region.
It is specialized in production of fabrics from locally sourced cotton as well as in design and fabrication of all types of tents, vehicle and truck
covers, camp beds among others.
After an extensive tour, Chief of the Air Staff was impressed with all he has seen and assured that the force will be partnering the industry on several fronts. Management of the company also assured it would deliver on its part of the bargain.
The industry is acclaimed to be fully integrated with capacity to produce over two million square meters of cotton canvas tarpaulin fabrics and
several metric tons of cotton yarn.
The decision to partner industries such as this one according to Chief of the Air Staff is in compliance with a Presidential directive.
Air Marshal Saddique Abubakar said it will be a win win for all.
