A petroleum tanker filled to capacity with imported rice and twenty five vehicles loaded with smuggled rice have been intercepted by operatives of the Nigerian Customs Service.
The Ogun State Customs Area Comptroller, Gangua Hassan, while showcasing the seizures, revealed that the rice consignments were impounded along the Idiroko border axis.
Comptroller Gangua further disclosed that four vehicles conveying more than four thousand cartons of frozen poultry products were also arrested.
He explained that three suspects have been apprehended in connection with the seizures and warned that smugglers will continue to incur losses if they persist in sabotaging the nation’s economy.
