The brewing tension in Edo state has been taken a step higher as the state government bans all forms of political rallies and demonstrations in all parts of the state.
A statement released this morning and signed by Secretary to the state government, Osarodion Ogie, said the step is to avert further threat to peace in the state.
Edo state has seen increasing tension since a political rally by the APC and scheduled to hold today was announced.
A popular politician and governorship candidate of the PDP in the last election, Osagie Ize-Iyamu, is said to be on his way to formally joining the APC at the planned rally.
Violence in some parts of Edo state on Thursday, prompted the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu to order a suspension of the rally.
Consequent upon that, Edo state government directed all security agencies to ensure there is no further breach of the peace from politicians.
