The Nigerian defense headquarters through the Operation Safe Corridor has organized free medical care for communities in Kwami local government area of Gombe State.
The exercise is part of a larger strategy to defeat the Boko haram insurgency by winning over the hearts and minds of people in rural communities, especially during festive seasons.
Ten years of fighting an insurgency in the North East, and efforts have largely yielded fruit this year. Fighters jets, armoured tanks, bombs and bullets had been the military’s choice of equipment in prosecuting this war but a new weapon has been introduced which seems far more effective.
The free medical outreach by military personnel under operation safe corridor has brought out thousands of people from several communities in Kwami local government area of Gombe State.
The approach is to win hearts and minds, turning every village and community into fortresses of peace by making every person in them an ally.
