Ekiti State Government has debunked rumours making the rounds that it is set to retrench some civil servants in the State.
Speaking with TVC’s Ayomide Ajeigbe, the Head of Service explained that Government is recruiting more workers, and not planning to relieve anyone of their job.
There is growing uncertainties in the work force in Ekiti state following retrenchments of some Workers at the Ekiti State University, and the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital.
The Government refutes this, and says there are plans to rather recruit more workers into the civil service, and hence there is no plan to lay off any Civil servant
We went to Ekiti State University in search of more information on how and why about 1,000 staff were disengaged. The Vice Chancellor explained that a Staff Audit was conducted by a private company and there were discrepancies in the records of some of the affected staff among other factors
Speaking on this development, the NLC chairman in the state who also doubles as the Chairman Senior Staff Association of Eksu Says the process was faulty. To this end, the Government has directed the institution to set up a committee to look into the protest of the affected persons.
Ekiti is Largely a Civil Servant State, and the Government has made it clear that it will implement the new Minimum Wage in the state.
