Governors of the six states of the north central region and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, have adopted community policing in tackling the security challenges affecting the region.

The community police would be recruited by various traditional rulers in the region.

The North Central Region of Nigeria, comprises of Nasarawa, Benue, Niger, Kogi, Plateau, Kwara and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

This region has been confronted with several security challenges, such as farmers/herders clashes, kidnapping and banditry.

The police is aware of the numerous security threats and therefore called for a meeting with the governors of the north central region to brainstorm
on the way forward.

The governors of the region are happy with the move made by the police and have adopted community policing as the solution.

People of the North Central region are optimistic that community policing would yield the desired result.
