Doctors in the country say they want more done to contain the Lassa fever outbreak which has killed more than 40 persons.
They described the current preventive and control measures as “weak” and called on the federal government to declare a national emergency on the outbreak.
The call was made after the end of their National Executive Council (NEC) meeting in Abuja on Saturday
The doctors are also demanding an evaluation of the hazard allowance paid to health workers, considering the increased risk they face.
They also decried the non-payment of salary arrears of its members, asking the federal and state governments to pay up to avoid industrial strikes.
So far, the Lassa fever outbreak has caused the deaths of about 5 doctors across some of the affected states.
