The Inspector General of Police Muhammad Adamu has appeared before the Senate to engage Lawmakers on addressing the high level of Insecurity in the Country.
The meeting which is currently holding behind closed doors is a fallout from last week’s deliberations at the National Assembly on Nigeria’s Security Challenges.
The IGP is to brief lawmakers on the concept and practical implementation modalities of community policing.
The upper legislative chamber had summoned Adamu following outcry on worsening kidnappings, banditry and killings in parts of the country.
The Senate Minority Leader, Enyinnaya Abaribe, had during the plenary called on President Muhammadu Buhari to resign his office as he had allegedly run out of ideas to address the country’s security challenges.
Abaribe’s call for Buhari’s resignation was believed to have prompted the president to summon a National Security Council meeting at the State House.
