The Nasarawa state government said it will overhaul the education sector in order to improve its quality and encourage entrepreneurship among students.
Governor Abdullahi Sule disclosed this at a one-day summit organised by the students association in Lafia, the state’s capital.
Education is widely seen as the bedrock of any society, but in Nigeria, the education sector is not given the attention it needs and is subjected due to poor budgeting, poor implementation of policies, inadequate manpower as well as low technical and entrepreneurship skills for students to be self reliant.
This has affected the quality of graduates the country’s secondary and tertiary institutions produce which in turn has resulted in massive unemployment.
This Summit seeks to address the many challenges bedeviling education sector and entrepreneurship studies in the state. But the Nasarawa state government is putting measures in place to address the situation and promote entrepreneurship in the state.
Students are delighted with the intentions of government and hopes it comes to fruition.
