Korongilum, a community in Chibok local government area of Borno state, came under attack by suspected Boko Haram insurgents Tuesday evening.
An eye witness reported that the attackers came into the community around 6pm, shooting sporadically and setting many houses on fire.
Troops from the Nigerian Army’s 28 task force brigade and 117 battalion, both headquartered in Chibok were dispatched immediately to Korongilum.
But the residents of the community hid in nearby bushes for safety.
Korongilum is about 5 km to Chibok, the community where over 200 school girls were abducted from their school hostel on the 14th of April 2014
