The Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) is currently seeking applications for its 2020 scholarships for Masters and Phd Degrees. As contained in its online portal, prospective candidates are to verify their NIN before applying.
But lawmakers say this precondition stands to disqualify many eligible students considering the cumbersome process of acquiring the number.
The motion generated some discordant tunes among members, pitching some against the others at Tuesday’s plenary.
While some supported it, others spoke against it.
The motion advised PTDF to toe the path of the Joint Admission And Matriculation Board which recently suspended the use of NIN as a basic requirement for candidates’ registration.
