Public Affairs analyst, Ambrose Igboke, has urged the Federal Government to put in place mitigating factors as the Abuja-Kaduna Train Service scheduled resumption draws closer.
Mr Igboke who was speaking to Mike Okwoche and Sam Omatseye on TVC News Breakfast said many things need to be done to ensure that the March 28th Terror Attack on the Train Service does not repeat itself.
Mr Igboke listed steps he said need to be taken for things to go smoothly .
He called for the deployment of online real-time Cameras into the Coaches of the Train Service between Abuja and Kaduna and Other parts of the Country.
He said this will aid the Nigerian Railways Corporation in monitoring what is happening on the Train and the Coaches at all times.
He also advocated for the total surveillance of the Tracks through the use of modern Technologies and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles popularly known as Drones to provide real time data on the tracks at at all times.
According to him, the Nigerian Railways Corporation, should also in collaboration with the Security and Armed Services have quick response teams near identified flashpoints across the tracks and ensure they are ready to go in case of any eventuality.

“The attack that happened some months ago. I believe you didn’t see any CCTV camera or passengers in each of the coaches. So the first thing is that we don’t have cameras inside the coaches”.
“So the first thing to do is to ensure that we put solar cameras. If we have that camera that is online real time to the headquarters of the Nigerian Railways Corporation. Therefore it would be easier to identify their paths and go straight on for them and be able to monitor online rates and what was happening on the Tracks”.
“But we didn’t have that. The first thing inside the train coaches, there must be surveillance cameras. That is number one letting and the correction to that. Second, we do not have surveillance along the rail tracks apart from kidnappers and the banditry will also issue a threat of the rail tracks”.
“So we need to have surveillance around that area that is transmitting online real time. Then the issue of using modern technology like drones to monitoring the tracks, the distance between Abuja Kaduna or from wherever the trains are going, it’s also something we can easily deploy”.
“And we have a central station that collects all the footage, so that it can be easy to analyze and easy to pinpoint where there are problems. Hardly. We need physical boots on ground, specific locations along our routes, because there are flashpoints. There are a lot of forests and there are flash points”.
“And I’m sure the military or the Armed forces intelligence have these flash points. Therefore, it is now fascinating to ensure that there are boots on ground for these areas”.
“Another thing is why people have been attacked. There was no direct communication between the passengers or even the crew and the station, even web station or the headquarters of Nigerian Railways Corporation”.
“We saw a lady, remember the lady doctor who tweeted live and who later died. So people were responding to use of social media. There should be direct communication with the Headquarters of the Nigerian Railways Corporation and also security forces, so that if searches happen, then we can easily proceed and they should be able to mobilize those around those contiguous areas for such attacks”.
“As it is that we need to learn and actively implement these measures to ensure that it is prevented from the criminals themselves. Know that if those places are monitored, if they are a deterrent to want to do such a thing, what if they know they can do and get away with it?”
“There will be to be able to carry out such a path in the future. All right. Sometimes it’s important, preventive actions are important to prevent this kind of actions from taking place again”.
