The Israeli embassy in Nigeria has flagged off the third old testament bible contest in the country to celebrate sixty years of diplomatic relations.
Israel’s old testament bible quiz which was started in 1958, was brought
into Africa in 2018,
Winners have emerged with opportunity to visit the Holy land.
Organisers also believe that deeper knowledge of the bible will help
entrench values and integrity as a culture in the country
Israel opened its diplomatic relations with Nigeria in 1960 upon Nigeria’s
independence
Following the Yom Kippur war, Nigeria was one of the countries which severed ties with Israel in 1973 but this was was restored in 1992 with efforts to ensure a greater bond of friendship.
Since 1992, Israel has offered developmental assistance to Nigeria, with more than fifty Israeli companies investing in Construction, Agriculture, Information Technology, Education and even security
Former President Goodluck Jonathan became the first Nigerian President to visit Israel in 2013
