The arraignment of the former minister of petroleum, Dan Etete, Aliyu Abubakar and 6 others was on Wednesday stalled following the inability of the prosecution to serve 2 out of the 8 defendants.
At the scheduled arraignment before the Federal high court Abuja, the prosecutor, Bala Sanga, informed the court that 2 out of the 8 defendants denied ownership of the companies listed in the charge sheet, despite documents from the corporate Affairs Commission indicating they owned the said companies.
Having informed the court of his challenges to effect service on the two defendants, the prosecutor applied for an adjournment to enable him reconfirm the true ownership of the companies from the CAC.
Counsel to some of the defendants did not oppose the application.
Justice Binta Nyako adjourned the matter to the 17th of March for arraignment.
The 8 defendants are being tried on a fresh 47 amended charge.
