The Federal Government and Chinese company constructing the China-aid project of Ecowas headquarters, has promised that the building will be delivered in 2024 as planned.
The assurance was given as the Chinese Ambassador Cui Jianchun, led the Nigerian team from Ecowas Commission and Ministry of foreign affairs on a tour.

The world-class edifice to be sited along the Airport Road, Abuja, is being funded by the Chinese Government under the China Aid for Shared Future and is being handled by the Shaanxi Construction Engineering Group Corporation (SCEGC), with Mr Feng Yongjun as the project director.
Cui Jianchun, the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, stated at the building site on Friday evening that the project, which will be fully sponsored by the People’s Republic of China, was a demonstration of China’s true interest and engagement with Africa.
The Chinese envoy also expressed delight that the project’s primary difficulty, obtaining a permission from the government, was nearing completion.
Damtien Tchintchibidja, Vice President of the ECOWAS Commission, thanked the Chinese government for its generosity and genuine interest in West Africa, as well as the Nigerian government for hosting ECOWAS Commissions and other institutions.
Nigeria’s permanent Representative to Ecowas also assured that all agencies involved, will work in a coordinated manner to ensure the construction progresses smoothly and is delivered within the 24 month schedule.
