Ogun state government has confirmed a new case of Lassa fever which has claimed the live of an assistant chief nursing officer at the Federal Medical Center Idi Aba, Abeokuta.
Confirming the incident, the state commissioner for health, Babatunde Ipaye said 196 primary contacts with the victim and possible secondary contacts are being monitored.
He said the primary source of the new case is not yet known, saying this is still being investigated as necessary precautions are being taken to curtail the spread of the disease.
