The ODIRS enforcement team, which was led by the Assistant Director, State Counsel to the revenue agency, Oyetan Afuwape, shut two hotels, two sawmills among others, for failure to pay land use charge.
Leader of the enforcement team, Oyetan Afuwape said the business outlets failed to do the needful, despite receiving several notices.
He said government will continue to go after tax defaulters and other offenders.
He added that the team embarked on the enforcement because of their experience with tax defaulters.
Afuwape added that anyone who unseals the business outlets without government directive, risks 7-year jail term.
He stressed that Ondo State will not close her eyes against tax defaulters because the money generated from the tax are being used to construct roads and take care of the citizens of the State and failure to pay tax will set the state behind as there will be no progress.
The revenue agency is expected to take enforcement to other local government areas in the days ahead.
