UK Prime Minister, Boris Johnson will on Tuesday unveil the latest easing of Britain’s coronavirus lockdown and also announce the conclusion of a review into whether a two-metre social-distancing rule should be relaxed, according to his office.
The Prime Minister is expected to first meet with his senior Cabinet colleagues and experts on Monday to discuss the review and the next phase of the recovery road map before updating the Cabinet on Tuesday.
Health Secretary Matt Hancock said that tackling the virus is “clearly on track” – boosting hopes that the more severe restrictions are nearing an end.
Employers in the hospitality sector were reported to complain that the two-meter rule prevents them from being able to operate as lockdown measures are lifted.
Boris Johnson’s office said the prime minister will tell parliament on Tuesday which sectors will be allowed to reopen on July 4 under the government’s roadmap out of the lockdown. Detailed guidance will also be provided to each sector so businesses were “COVID secure.”
