The House of Representatives has set up an ad hoc Committee to investigate the face off between the Labour and Employment Minister and the management team of the National Social investment Trust Fund, NSITF.
The committee is to within one week, probe alleged procedural breaches of the Presidential directive on the sack of the NSITF management by Chris Ngige and the former Managing Director of TCN by the Minister of Power.
The resolution was on the strength of a motion of urgent public importance by Kogi legislator, Leke Abejide.
The committee is chaired by Maryam Onuoha from Imo state and is to also investigate alleged breach in the procurement procedures and other financial malpractices.
Lagos lawmaker, James Faleke, in his contribution, accused Mr. Ngige of abuse of office with the procurement of vehicles worth N305 million and allegedly inserted 2 billion naira into the agency’s 2020 budget for 4 SUVs.
He also accused the Minister of using his wife, as a civil servant, to sign the authorisation for the appointment of an insurance broker for NSITF to the tune of N100m.
