The National Coordinator of Integrity support international association Abdulmalik Salawu has threatened legal action against the governor of rivers state Nyesom Wike and members of his G-5 group over an alleged trademark infringement
Mr Salawu has advised governor Wike and his group to desist from using the name integrity group, as it is the name registered by his association with the CAC for over 6 years.
Five governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), otherwise known as G-5, led by Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State and some other party chieftains, had announced the formation of Integrity Group within the opposition party.
Other governors in the group are Samuel Ortom of Benue State, Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State and Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State.
The name chosen by the G-5 has now raised issues as the Integrity support international association is calling on the group to drop the name.
The national coordinator of the association noted that the governors will face legal action if they insist on using the name.
The integrity support international association stresses that the objective of its association is to support credible candidates with integrity irrespective of their political parties and will not want their names to be tainted.
Nigerians are advised to get their PVCs and vote wisely in the 2023 general elections.
The Integrity Group was formed at the Weekend by Governors of the Peoples Democratic Party led by Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike with Governors Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, Samuel Ortom of Benue and Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State who were joined by Other prominent members of the Peoples Democratic Party led by Chief Olabode Ibiyinka George.
Former Governors of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, Ondo State, Olusegun Mimiko, Jonah Jang formerly of Plateau State, Donald Duke of Cross Rivers State and Others are also part of thye new group.
Their stated aim is to ensure Integrity, transparency and equity within the Peoples Democratic Party.
