The Nigeria Customs Service says that the nation cannot continue to develop other countries at the detriment of its own economy.
The public relations officer, PTML Customs Command, Steve Okonmah said this in view of reactions that continue to trail the federal government’s ban on land border importation of vehicles.
He argued that the government has consistently lost revenues to smuggling activities, made worse by the country’s lengthy border which has so many unapproved routes.
The latest directive according to him, will reduce the risk encountered by officers at the border areas.
He warns that the enforcement of the latest federal government ban ensures that any car coming in through the land borders will be treated as a contraband.
