PDP Senatorial Candidate, Four Others Arrested In Zamfara

The People’s Democratic Party PDP has accused the Zamfara State Government of using security agencies to arrest six of it’s key members

Among those arrested are the Zamfara Central Senatorial Candidate Ikra Bilbils and a former Ambassador, Bala Mairiga

The Zamfara state Government had on Monday accused the PDP Supporters of vandalising it’s Political billboards During a rally

The Political crisis between the All Progressive Congress and the People’s Democratic Party in Zamfara has taking another dimension

This is the second time in three months that the two major Political parties clashed and are accusing each other of attacking it’s Supporters, destroying Campaign billboards, posters among other things

The people’s Democratic Party is Accusing the state government of collaborating with Security agencies to arrest six of it’s chieftains Monday morning

Addressing Newsmen shortly after an emergency meeting in Gusau, the opposition party says many of it’s key members are on the blacklist of the state government and are likely to be picked up

Among those presently under arrest are a former Minister who is also the Zamfara Central Senatorial Candidate, Ikra Bilbils, Ambassador Bala Mairiga among others.

The PDP says the move is a delibrate attempt to silence the opposition party in Zamfara

On its part, the Zamfara state Government says the PDP destroyed it’s billboards and other properties belonging to residents during it’s rally on Sunday

The state government insist that the PDP brought in hired thugs from neighboring states to cause havoc and disrupt the peace enjoyed

At a separate press conference, the two Political parties appealed to their members to remain calm and not to take laws into their own hands.

Police in the state are yet to comment on the incident despite several calls and messages put across.
