Media Aide to former governor of Osun State, Gboyega Oyetola, Ismail Omipidan says the former governor has confidence in the judiciary to do a thorough job as far as the petition that was brought before it.
Speaking on Wednesday’s edition of ThisMorning with Yori Folarin, the former media aide said it was only vote count was lost not the election.
According to Mr Omipidan, part of what is being challenged is the over voting of 749 polling units, eligibility of the incumbent governor Ademola Adeleke amongst others.

Omipidan, recalled that in 2018 election, Adeleke was arraigned for forgery. The proceeding was on and he applied for bail under medical grants, the bail was granted him and he left the country and nobody saw him again until he returned some few months to the election to contest.
According to him, these are also on the two grants.
The issues before the tribunal is that, the All Progressives Congress, APC, and its candidate in that election, Oyetola, are challenging the eligibility of Senator Nurudeen Jackson Ademola Adeleke to stand for the election in the first instance.
Additionally, they are contesting the fact that contrary to INEC’s declaration, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and its candidate in that election, Adeleke, did not score the lawful majority votes to be so declared as the winner of the July 16 governorship election.
Apart from challenging his eligibility, which is both a pre and post election issue, the APC and its candidate are also challenging the election results in 749 polling units across 10 Local Governments
Again, recall that after the election, the APC and its candidate applied for the BVAS report. For the purpose of education, Sections 47(2) of the Electoral Act says that to vote, the presiding officer shall use the smart card reader or any other technological device that maybe prescribed by the Commission for the accreditation of voters to “verify, authenticate the intending voter in the manner prescribed by the Commission.”
And for the purpose of Osun election, INEC had prescribed the BVAS as the only credible means of accreditation.
But the Certified True Copy, CTC, of the report of BVAS across 10 Local Governments in 749 polling units showed that accreditation through BVAS was less than the number of votes cast in those units.
However, once APC and its candidate filed their petitions in court, INEC later issued another CTC of the BVAS report to the PDP, claiming that as at the time the first one was issued, it had not syncronised the data in the BVAS.
Speaking on the sacking of 12,000 workers, removal of traditional amongst others by the new governor, Ademola Adeleke, Mr Omipidan the PDP has a history of lying.
“In October when I engaged in a conversation on a radio program with the spokesperson to the governor when he mentioned that we had engaged 12,000 workers. And I told him that I hope that he will have the courage to apologise to the members of the public and indeed the people of Osun by the time they found out that that figure does not exist.
” How many is the workforce that we will have 12,000 between July and November.
“When the sack was first announced, I responded immediately with a three paragraph statement challenging them to publish the list of those 12,000 workers. That figure only exists in the imagination of the governor and the spokesperson because I don’t know where they got that figure from.
Speaking further, he said the employment being talked about is just a little above 2000.
“On the day of the inauguration when I was analyzing the speech of Mr. Governor, he claimed that every action that was taken immediately after July 16 election would be a nullity. I kept wondering where such powers will come from.
“Are you saying that Oyetola was elected for four years tenure whose mandate runs up until Saturday, November 26, have no right to take actions and maybe setting it further that if we go by his claim, then it means that even his inauguration is a nullity because we’re the ones who prepared the express inauguration. We’re the ones who signed the papers and prepared everything for the inauguration.
“Again, he said he was going to issue executive order to back up those things he said. And by the next day, they read out about, six executive orders. One of them was sacking of those workers. And because they were the ones who gave the figure of 120 journalists who reported on the figure.
“The next day, they also said that the traditional rulers that were installed that secretary operatives should take charge of their policies. But by yesterday, Tuesday, when I listened to a spokesperson on radio, again, he appeared to be saying something different from what was said on Monday. what they announced saying was that they have not sacked anybody and they have not asked any monarch to live in palace. And the next question I asked is, how do we not explain those executive orders? Omipidan added.
