Within space of three weeks , three attacks were carried out on INEC facilities in three local governments in Ebonyi, Ogun and Osun states.
The commission is not deterred by this, will deliver on its mandate by ensuring fee ,fair ,and credible elections , as it’s allegiance is to Nigerians .
The Chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission Mahmood Yakubu is concerned over the attacks on its offices and facilities in some local governments across the country .
But it assures Nigerians that it will recover losses arising from the attacks and deliver on conducting credible elections in 2023.
This was disclosed during a meeting with the African Union Special pre-electoral political mission in Abuja .
It is eighty seven days to the forthcoming general election in Nigeria.
The electoral umpire has put measures in place to ensure free fair and credible elections across the country.
But within the space of three weeks , three attacks were carried on INEC facilities in Ebonyi, Ogun and Osun states .
These attacks have resulted ina lot of material acquired and delivered from elections have being lost.
At this meeting the leader of the AU delegation for pre electoral political mission, Phumzile Mlambo Ngcuka, explains that ; they are here as partners to provide support while also to assessing the level of preparations .
The INEC Chairman Mahmood Yakubu assures that the Commission will recover from the attacks but will not condone rising attacks on its facilities.
He also emphasizes that the commission will not be deterred by the challenges faced .
The Commission is hopeful that it will deliver on its mandate by ensuring free fair and credible elections.
There has been a recent upsurge in attacks on the facilities of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, by unknown person across the Country.
These attacks ahve been on for sometime and has now reached two states in the Southwest an hitherto safe haven for officials and facilities of the Commission.
