As part of efforts to promote the discovery and development of football talents from schools in the Ado -Odo area of ogun State, the first Olota of Ota cup for secondary school teams has been unveiled after colorful ceremony hosted at the monarchs Palace in the ancient city.
Leading a strong lineup of traditional rulers at the unveiling ceremony, the Olota of Ota, Oba Professor Abdul Kadri Oba Adeyemi Obalanlege, said the vision of the tournament is to promote peaceful co-existence among the youths and put the Region’s name in the global map of notable sporting talents across the country.
Other dignitaries at the event including former International Austin Popo who is the secretary to the Board of Trustees of the professional footballers Association of Nigeria called on the need for community-based football teams which provides a viable platform for homegrown talents to be discovered and nurtured.
The competition which will involve public and private secondary schools and environs will begin with preliminary marches in January 2023.
