Buhari faults governors for institutional corruption in LG system

President Muhammadu Buhari has strongly criticized State Governors for the institutional corruption in the local government system, which he says inhibits development at the grassroots.

The President said this at State House during a parley with members of the Senior Executive Course 44 of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru.

The President urged public officeholders to be guided by their conscience and personal integrity.

President Buhari was blunt as he directly blamed state governors for the poor rate of development at the local government level.

The president is not happy that the effort made to strengthen local government administration in the country through an executive order was truncated by judicial processes.

The President wants all public officeholders to be guided by their conscience, he also promised that the recommendation in the NIPSS report will be implemented.

The report of the Senior Executive Course 44, recommends that for Nigeria to manage most of the challenges currently facing the country, it must strengthen governance at the grassroots and eradicate corruption.

President Buhari congratulated the members of the senior executive course 44 on the successful completion of their course and promised that his administration will continue to support the activities of the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies.

President Buhari urged public office holders to be guided by their conscience and personal integrity wherever they find themselves.

He pledged that the recommendations contained in the presentation of SEC 44 will be painstakingly studied by the Government with the view to implementing its recommendations

The President noted that the report would significantly help in the provision of good governance to the people at the grassroots levels and, by extension, win back their trust in government. He claimed that his administration has done a great deal to foster trust between the government and the people.

And it's so expensive these days to buy those brand new notes. Those guys are smiling to the bank. We spend money to print new narrow notes, but banks almost all the time will give us deadly notes. There are some of them who have been hooking Iran notes for up to 20 years. So whether you change redesign in Iran notes or not, they want to stay business. And they know people in the banks, they know managers and all that. So as soon as they send them these notes, those managers keep some portions of new notes for the currency hookahs who then sell to particle who spread those new notes on people at their parties. Despite the fact that it is against the law to spray money, despite the risk of going to jail, nigerians are not prepared to listen. You see spraying nodes, you see people dancing on top of Naira nodes. I still believe that one, they have not supplied enough. Perhaps they are delaying after all this currency, the old currency will still mainly would tender until the end of January. No bank at all. So people have to travel now with their cash to go and change currency. So it's such a terrible thing. And if you are saying that, okay, you are even placing limit on how much people can change. How about this scenario that I just talked about? People rushing for farm settlements to one pile of produce to use. Denial that they have that they have stacked in their homes. They use it by buying produce from farmers. Now those farmers, they have to find a way to change the currency. It's not funny at all. Especially when you even put restriction on how much people can also change. Okay, you want to fight money laundry and order, but it's not everybody who has kept so much money in these houses, in their houses that are money laundry. A lot of them made their money through valid means. But due to cultural, religious reasons, they do not like going to the banks. Right. Don't like keeping their money. Right.
