Governor Hope Uzodinma expressed this belief at the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Imo State Government and the Nigerian Navy for the dredging of the Orashi River at the Imo State Government House Owerri.
The Governor who thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for given approval for the dredging, noted that when the project is achieved it will give the Nigerian Navy unhindered access to the sea in its fight against oil theft, Piracy and Other Sundry Crimes.
The Orashi River Dredging according to observers will help not only in enhancing Commerce and the Economy of the Niger Delta States but also ensure that the Nigerian Navy is able to Police the Waterways better.
It will also ensure that the Creeks of the Niger Delta are accessible to Transportation Companies and serve as a new link for the people to move their Goods and Services swiftly.
