Members of the correspondent chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ in Sokoto state have directed their members to boycott all government activities in the state
This directive is issued to members after an extraordinary congress held following an alleged harassment of their members by security personnel at the Government House Sokoto
The directive is contained in a statement signed by the Chairman and secretary of the chapel Habibu Harisu and Ankeli Emmanuel and made available to newsmen in Sokoto
According to them the Chapel wish to also state that it’s members are barred from using Press Releases issued from the Government, any Group, Individuals, Organisations and Politicians who do not deem it fit to invite them to their functions.
They also condemned what they described as unwarranted attitude of Security Agents at the Government House for threatening lives of harmless Journalists who are out to do their primary duties.
The Chapel therefore call on Heads of Security Agencies in the State to sensitize their personnel on Media/Security relationship.
