Two oil majors, Shell and Eni have both approached a Federal High Court in Abuja, seeking to set aside an order that oil prospecting license 245 be temporarily forfeited to the Nigerian government.
That is the license to the oil field known as Malabu oil.
In two separate motions the two oil companies also asked the court to suspend the effect of the interim order on the grounds that it constitutes a gross abuse of process and power.
Trial Judge, Justice John Tsoho, adjourned the case till February the 27th, to enable the EFCC which got the order in the first place respond.
The Malabu oil field has been at the centre of a multi-billion naira corruption scandal involving top government officials.
