Coordinator Sanwo-Olu for Governor Again (SAFOGA) Razaq Olokoba speaking on Lagos as a mega city compared with other African cities said it shows the right things have been done.
“If you come to Lagos and you see what is being done, it is only natural that you want to take something back to your state to replicate”.
According to Mr Olokoba, Lagos has been very lucky in terms of governance since 1999 till today.
The baton has been passed from one governor to another with each having his own peculiar challenge.
Mr Olokoba said he was one of the people who when Governor was elected knew he had a lot of challenges ahead and a lot of work to do.
“The civil service for instance didn’t want to give him their goodwill because of the issues he had with the outgoing governor but he was able to surmount that and in the end they had no choice but to embrace him.
“He was also able to resolve issues with the end sars and during covid-19.
“If you put all these together, if you he didn’t succeed, he has an excuse not to say that he should be given another four term.
“The fact that he has been able to go this far means one thing, that Lagosians, the party and maybe benevolence has always smiled on us for choosing someone who understand the concept of megacity.
“Lagos is a peculiar state because we sit on 3000 square kilometer of land, 25 million people.
Speaking of the security architecture, Mr Olokoba said the security Babajide Sanwo-Olu has put in Lagos might not be feasible but it is in place.
He added that the number one key and central point achievement of the administration of Governor Sanwo-Olu is in securing lives.
There is an influx of people to Lagos on a daily basis because of the insecurity in other parts of the country.
The people who come in on a daily basis is higher than those who are living in Lagos.
Sanwo-Olu got it right when he came on board, he ensured that the baton he took from Ambode, he didn’t waste the time of the people of Lagos states.
Also comparing other states, African countries to what is currently obtainable in Lagos state, Lawyer/fmr Lasuite, Olatunbosun Osifowora said we need to be careful in our comparisons.
He stated that in as much as we want to compare ourselves with people that are actually doing well, we also need to look at where we are coming from.
“You have to look at the resources available to this places and what is available to the present administration in Lagos.
“Sanwo-Olu has been able to get the basics right but we have to flesh it.
According to him, the countries and cities being compared with Lagos also have their own peculiarities and challenges as well. But, in as much as we are not where we want to be, we’re not where we used to be and also work is always ongoing.
Sanwo-Olu doesn’t look like that tough person but he is doing a fantastic job and working assiduously.
