Members of the Boko Haram sect have attacked a Nigerian Air Force helicopter, conveying personnel on medical outreach programme at Gwoza in Borno state.
Air Force spokesman, Group Captain Ayodele Famuyiwa said the Mi-17 helicopter was shot at, severally on Wednesday.
He said there was no casualty except for an airman who sustained bullet wounds.
Famuyiwa further said the helicopter had departed Maiduguri enroute the venue of a two-day medical outreach programme in Gwoza when it came under attack by the terrorists.
But the Air force’s counter-attack with a fighter aircraft and helicopter gunship, led to the death of many Boko Haram members.
