To defeat gender-based violence in Nigeria requires political will, collaboration with multi-setter players and a robust legal framework. This was the take of Governor of Lagos state, Babajide Sanwo-Olu at the unveiling of a book titled “living for a higher purpose” written by the Executive Secretary of the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA), Mrs Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi.
The governor who was represented by the Head of Service, Mr Hakeem Muri-Okunola, said his administration was working not only to curb domestic and sexual violence, but to ultimately eliminate it.

Mrs Adeniyi is praised by many for her commitment in coordinating efforts to tackle the menace of gender-based violence in Lagos State.
She has a Domestic and Sexual Violence agency which started out as a small office within the Lagos State Ministry of Justice in 2014 but which morphed into a full-blown agency in September 2021.
The various experiences from the time it was still an idea and the phases of the body’s existence its transition and growth are captured in the book.
Fighting and winning this battle requires the cooperation of like-minded team members made up of policy makers, activists, professionals from diverse Fields And even the survivors.
It is hoped that more well-meaning individuals will take up the challenge of ending the culture of silence which will spur more coordinated responses to end the wave of gender-based violence across Nigeria .
