The Niger State Government says it has received with great joy the reports on the rescue mission undertaken by the Nigerian Airforce in rescuing 7 kidnapped Chinese nationals that were kidnapped at Ajata Aboki, Shiroro LGA of Niger State, in June 2022.
The 7 Chinese nationals have been rescued from kidnappers in a rescue mission carried out by the Special Forces of the Nigerian Air force.
The victims were kidnapped in June at Ajata Aboki in the Shiroro Local council area of Niger state.
Niger state Commissioner for Internal Security and Humanitarian Affairs Emmanuel Bagna disclosed this in a press statement on Sunday Morning.
He also expressed the satisfaction of the Niger state governor Abubakar Sani Bello with the Commander and men of 271 Nigerian Air Force Detachment for the excellent operation it carried out to rescue the hostages.
The facilities of the Transmission Company of Nigeria came under attack from bandits who after killing some of the escorts of the 7 Chinese construction workers abducted them and have nor been heard of since until the rescue operation by the Special Forces of the Nigerian Airforce.
The attack was one of the series of attacks launched by bandits from across the border from neighbouring Kaduna and Zamfara State.
The State has also put in place measures to ensure that the Security of the State especially areas bordering Other States and those housing Strategic installations like Shiroro and Zungeru.
The abduction of the Chinese Nationals is the third high profile abduction by bandits/Terrorists who are reportedly members of the Ansarul splinter group of the Boko Haram group.
Bandits had abducted students of the Government Secondary School Kagara and an Islamiyya School in Tegina in 2020 though they were all returned after the alleged payment of ransom by the State Government.
The rescue by the Airforce will also serve as a notice to those involved in the business of kidnapping for ransom that their days in the business are numbered.
