The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara state has announced its resolve to bring back old members of the party who dumped the party in the build up to the 2019 general elections.
This is just as the party assured people of the state, of life more abundant if it makes it back to power in 2023.
Some prominent members of the then ruling Peoples Democratic Party in Kwara state left the party in the build up to the 2019 general elections for the All Progressives Congress, the eventual winner of the elections.
Even after the elections, many members of the PDP again defected.
In order to put its house in order, the party constituted a Reconciliation and Engagement Committee last month.
A former acting national chairman of the PDP, Kawu Baraje, heads the committee.
At its inaugural sitting, Mr Baraje says no efforts will be spared in bringing back old members of the party who have joined other political parties.
While doing this, he assures that the grievances of those that have left for other parties and the aggrieved ones who are still in the party’s fold will be genuinely and holistically addressed.
He warned that the committee will not allow itself to be tele-guided.
