Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has promised to reveal his preferred candidate for the 2023 presidential election soon.
He hinted that the crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party is far from over during the inauguration of newly constructed flyover bridge in Port Harcourt
This is the 10th flyover built by Governor Nyesom wike’s administration.
It is strategically located in Rumukwurusi community to ease traffic in this axis of the east-west road and connect major part of the state.
Governor Wike took some time to address the uncertainty about the political party or candidate he will be endorsing for the presidential election.
He promised to make his decision public in January 2023.
The inauguration of these projects also served as a platform for the State PDP to campaign.
Nyesom Wike is confident of getting the votes with his performance as a 2-term governor.
The Group of Five (G-5) governors – Wike; Seyi Makinde (Oyo); Samuel Ortom (Benue); Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia) and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu) and their allies opted of the team campaigning for the PDP presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
Their decision was taken, following the refusal of Dr. Iyorchia Ayu to step aside from office as the party’s National Chairman after Atiku clinched the presidential ticket.
The G-5 governors are insisting that only equity, justice and fairness in the PDP will make them have a rethink on their party’s presidential candidate.
The governor told party faithful’s in the state to vote for the PDP governorship, National and House of Assembly candidates for 2023, but to wait for the unveiling of the chosen presidential candidate in January.
He said the decision on the presidential candidate to moblise votes for in the forthcoming poll was being been taken and would be revealed next month.
The governor said that he will not only campaign for the yet-to-determined presidential candidate in Rivers, but tour the whole country to mobilise support for him.
2 more flyovers projects are still ongoing and Governor Wike has assured that both will be inaugurated before the 2023 general election.
