Discussants on Journalists Hangout have commended the Defence Headquarters for the recent stride it has made in the elimination of over 60 Terrorists by Troops.
They urged the Federal Government to take a step further from just taking out the bad guys to also look into the issue of the manpower pool for them.
Ibinabo Dickson while leading the discussion said the abandoned Children across Nigeria are an easy pool of manpower for the Terrorists/Bandits alliance and the Government should do everything humanly possible to ensure they are taken off the Streets and the pool dries up.
She gave an example of the recruitment process by insurgents of Children who she said are taken from their parents on the failure to be able to pay back loans taken by them from insurgents.
She said this happened in a Village in Borno State and needs to be addressed as most suicide bombings by the Boko Haram terror group and the splinter groups ISWAP and Ansarul were carried out by children of less than 10 years in most cases.
For his part, Babajide Kolade-Otitoju, said the fact the military has given the bad guys a bloody nose in the last three weeks especially in the North Central is a good development that will ensure that the Military is able to better protect the communities since the ability of the insurgents to attack the Military has been degraded.
He congratulated the Military for being able to degrade the Terrorists/Bandits and make it impossible for them to dominate any area nor move around with constant Bombardment and attacks which has made them almost redundant.
He described the incident in Zamfara with over a 100 deaths as an unfortunate one which was due to inability to properly identify hostile persons from innocents who were caught in the crossfire.
He urged Nigerian Military not to relent adding that they must do something fast to ensure the whole of the country especially parts of Katsina, Zamfara, Kaduna and Borno States.
He said the Military needs to flush the insurgents out so that the communities can be conducive and habitable for the residents and also for the 2023 Elections to hold across all parts of the Country.
