As the conflict with Palestinians in Gaza enters its seventh day, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed to “continue to respond strongly” to rocket attacks.

According to Palestinian officials, at least 148 people have been killed in Gaza since the fighting began on Monday, while Israel has reported 10 deaths, including two children. Israel claims dozens of militants are among the dead in Gaza, while Palestinian health officials claim 41 children are among the dead.
In a televised address late Saturday, Netanyahu stated that the strikes would continue for “as long as necessary” and that every effort was being made to limit civilian casualties.
“The party that bears the guilt for this confrontation is not us, it’s those attacking us,” Netanyahu said.
The recent escalation of violence in East Jerusalem followed weeks of rising Israeli-Palestinian tensions, culminating in clashes at a holy site revered by both Muslims and Jews.
Hamas, the Palestinian militant group that rules Gaza, began firing rockets after Israel warned it to leave the area, prompting retaliatory air strikes.
