The Zamfara State Police Command has increased security along major highways and in difficult areas in an effort to ensure a trouble-free Christmas and New Year’s celebration.
The police says it is committed to safeguarding lives and property of all citizens and commuters before, during and after the celebrations.
A press statement signed by the command public relations officer Mohammed Shehu the command has deployed Police personnel and other security agencies to all churches, recreational centres and other vulnerable areas to ensure peaceful celebrations in the State.
The statement adds that the command has embarked on confidence building patrol on Major Highways, commencing from Gusau – Mafara – Sokoto road and is aimed at ensuring safety and security of commuters and other road users.
The Zamfara police chief also directed Area Commanders, Tactical Commanders, and DPOs to follow the same plan in their respective jurisdictions.
During Yuletide, the authorities also warned against the sale and usage of fireworks, knockouts, and fire crackers.
On behalf of the Command, the Zamfara police commissioner congratulates the Christian community and encourages them to use the Christmas season to pray for the state’s and the nation’s peace, unity, and development.
