A dark cloud hovers over Mealagum and Sokwong communities of Kagoro Chiefdom in kaura local government area of Kaduna state.
Amid tears, the locals have come to bury 37 members of their communities who were killed by armed terrorists on the 18th of December.
This is the second mass burial to be conducted in this region in two years.
The locals have also come with gun shells and live ammunition left behind by the attackers of their communities.
Their houses were also razed and this is what is left of their community.
They describe the attack as a carnage they won’t forget.
For decades, there have been killings and counter-killings between herders and farmers in southern Kaduna, prompting the state government to host several security and peace meetings.
A delegation from the Kaduna state government had a few days ago, visited the chiefdom to commiserate with them on the attack which the Governor described as inhumane.
Though aggrieved, the people have been charged not to take laws into their hands.
The attack and subsequent killing of innocent people that followed is one that has left those in Security Circles in a quandary as to what should be done to stop subsequent ones after a lot of efforts recently by the Military to stop the seeming impunity by Terrorists who have been attacking the State at will.
The Military had before now made a lot strides against the Terrorists with many applauding efforts which has made it almost impossible for them to mount a successful attack within the general area of the North West of Nigeria.
The recent upsurge in not only Kaduna but Zamfara State will serve as a wake up call on the Military hierarchy that all is still not well in Kaduna and Other Parts of the North West.
