The Nigerian Bar Association has confirmed that its members have visited the Ajiwe Police Station in Ajah to meet the Officers of the Nigerian Police Force over the killing of its member, Omobolanle Raheem, on Christmas Day under the Ajah under Bridge in Lagos.
The Lawyer and Real Estate Consultant, Omobolanle Raheem, was reportedly shot dead by An Assistant Superintendent of Police named Ayuba who was visibly drunk on Christmas Day.
The Officer who was on Pin Down Patrol with Others under the Ajah Bridge was said to have stopped the Car in which the Lawyer was riding with her husband who was driving and while the husband was trying to find a place to stop due to obstruction the visibly drunk Officer refused all entreaties by his colleagues to allow the Car go since there was no offence or infraction committed.
While people were still pleading with the drunk officer according to eyewitnesses he shot at the car at close range and hit the Late Omobolanle Raheem who was returning from Church Service in the Chest and She died on the Spot.
Eyewitnesses reported that the Officers on realising the damage done by the shooting fled with her corpse but were later apprehended after a report at the Station.
The Nigerian Bar Association according to its Chairman, Ikechukwu Uwanna, is in touch with the Police and has also met with the family.
Mr Uwanna who was Speaking to TVC News’s Veronica Dan-Ikpoyi said the Nigerian Bar Association will not sit on the matter and allow things lying low.
He added that the Bar has also met with the family of the deceased and will be constituting a committee with a watching brief made up of Senior members of the Bar to monitor the developments on the case.
He said the Lagos State Police Command ha also assured the Bar that the killer Officer will be prosecuted after an Orderly room trial.
