The Cross River State Governor, Professor Ben Ayade, on Thursday celebrated his 49th birthday with Bakassi refugees amidst fanfare.
According to the governor, the event was in fulfilment to celebrate his birthday with the internally displace persons at Ikpa-Nkaya, Akwa-Ikot-Eyo-Edem in Akpabuyo Local Government Area of the state.
Ayade had last Saturday during the groundbreaking ceremony of 5, 000 units of two bedroom housing units for Bakassi returnees, promised that he would return to celebrate with the refugees.
The 5, 000 housing project is being funded by the Africa Nations Development Project for displaced and indigent indigenes of the state.
His wife, Dr Linda Ayade, supported his donation with over 500 long lasting insecticides treated nets distributed through her Mediatrix Development Foundation.
Dignitaries at the event include a former presidential adviser, Senator Florence Ita-Giwa, and the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, John Gaul-Lebo, the governor donated food and support materials to the refugees.
