A former Group Managing Director of Nigeria’s state oil firm, NNPC has sued the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for violating his fundamental rights.
This comes after the commission seized more than 9.8 million dollars in a building in Kaduna that belongs to him.
Andrew Yakubu also wants the court to award him 1 billion naira against the EFCC and the Attorney General of the Federation as damages.
Justice Ahmed Mohammed of the Federal High Court, Abuja, will on Thursday, hear the fundamental rights enforcement suit filed by Yakubu.
In the suit filed through his counsel, Adeola Adedipe, Yakubu also asked the court to shield him from further investigation by the EFCC.
Operatives of the EFCC had stormed a building belonging to Yakubu and recovered 9.8 million dollars and 74,000 pounds stashed in a huge fire proof safe.
