The Nigerian army has revealed that it has lost five personnel during Wednesday’s Boko Haram attack in Magumeri town, Borno state.
Spokesman of the army, Sanni Usman who disclosed this on Friday, added that three officers are missing.
Usman did not disclose the names of the officers, but security sources say the militants ambushed a lieutenant and his colleagues on their way from a shooting range competition in Munguno, still in Borno.
Troops chased the fleeing Boko Haram terrorists through four villages.
The army says an unconfirmed number of Boko Haram terrorists were neutralised, and their arms and ammunition recovered.
