Airport Manager, Kaduna International Airport, Amina Ozi-Salam has pledged seamless operations, about two weeks after it became the alternative airport to the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja which has been closed for runway repairs.
Ozi-Salam said this after some passengers complained about grey areas that needed to be addressed.
Lilian Eze-Mark reports that other requirements by International Air Transport Association for International Airports that are absent in Kaduna Airport include Common User Terminal Equipment, Automated Operations Management System, Automated Passenger Processing and Profiling Equipment.
Kaduna Traffic Pattern indicates that the average daily movement from 9th to 16th March is:
Aircraft Movement – 835
Passenger Movement – 31,332.
Daily Traffic Average is:
Aircraft Movement – 105
Passenger Movement – 3,917
The authorities did not provide information on delayed and cancelled fights but according to reports about 400 flights have been cancelled within the period.
Air passengers have options to travel by road or rail free of charge. Distance between Abuja and Kaduna is 2 hours 15 minutes by train and about 2 and a half hours by road.
Passengers complain of missing their flights because train schedule has not been adjusted to accommodate flight schedules.
A passenger who craved anonymity advised members of the public who wish to travel from Abuja to Lagos to dedicate a day for movement only, transact business and do same when they wish to return.
Some passengers have commended government’s efforts at the airport, others say there is room for improvement.
